Hajnalka Tarr, an artist started the art sessions in 2010 in 2 housing facilities in Miskolc. Today, the art program is used in 6 facilities.
The basic aim of the program is therapy and fostering talented creators. We have discovered several gifted autistic creators who are boarders because they cannot live independently, but are extraordinarily visually expressive.
Since 2010, artworks, some created in the art program, some the work of neurotypical artists who offer it up for the good cause go under the hammer on the yearly auction of the foundation. The money from sales goes to support the housing facilities.
We believe that the most important effect is what we have on our society. This is why we show the strengths as well as the weaknesses of people living with autism through exhibitions. Their artworks don’t stick out from contemporary art galleries, art fairs or museums. Our creators have had exhibitions in the Hungarian National Gallery and at Art Market Budapest among other places.
Our Autistic Art collection consists of more than 10 000 drawings.
The best drawings are used and popularised on Autistic Art products since 2014.
